A Global Network of Scientists, United for One Goal
In 2020, the Curing Retinal Blindness Foundation (CRBF) initiated something extraordinary—a truly collaborative effort to accelerate progress in CRB1 research. The CRB1 Research Collaborative brings together a diverse and accomplished group of scientists, clinicians, and researchers from around the world who are focused on unraveling the complexities of CRB1-related retinal disease.
This collaborative includes both CRBF-funded teams and independent researchers who share a common purpose: to move CRB1 research further, faster.
Collaboration Over Competition
In the world of science and research, collaboration at this level is rare. Researchers often work in silos to protect their data and intellectual property—and understandably so. But this group chose a different path. They come together quarterly in virtual meetings, not only to share progress and breakthroughs, but also to talk candidly about challenges, exchange data, and brainstorm new ideas together.
Even more powerful? Many of these collaborators connect outside the formal meetings—at conferences, in one-on-one conversations, and through shared projects—all with one goal in mind: getting CRB1 to the finish line.
This is science in its most selfless form – driven by urgency, hope, and a shared belief that we can do more together than alone.
